Doomfist is free from prison and punching things.
Blizzard posted a fictional news article from the Overwatchuniverse Tuesday revealing the name and status of the character Doomfist, a gauntlet-wielding villain who has been referenced and teased since the game first launched over a year ago.

A few recent happenings point toward the possible release of Doomfist as a playable hero in Overwatchsoon: Doomfist's gauntlet was stolen from the map Numbani in February, and Blizzard named the current public test region "Summer Games/Doomfist," suggesting Doomfist would be coming to the game in August.
The current Doomfist is named Akande Ogundimu, according to the article, and was freed from prison by Talon operatives, including Reaper.
Three months after initial reports of an incident at Helix Security International's classified maximum security installation, a more complete picture of what happened has emerged. Information and details of what happened were scarce as has been any news from the installation, said to be a prison for the world's most dangerous threats. However, after recent events in Numbani, it can now be confirmed that what occurred was an attack by the Talon organization with the express purpose of freeing one man: Akande Ogundimu, better known as Doomfist.
The article confirmed suspicions that Doomfist, out of prison, went and stole the gauntlet from the map Numbani and beat up some OR15 defensive robots in the Numbani airport.
The fact that Doomfist was freed by Talon agents -- a villainous organization that includes hero members Reaper, Widowmaker, and Sombra -- suggests that Doomfist himself is probably a villain, too.
Doomfist was put in prison after being defeated by Winston before the timeline of the game. His gauntlet was put on display at the Overwatchmuseum in Numbani. The current Doomfist, Ogundimu, is the third person to hold the Doomfist title.
If Doomfist is a playable character, he will be the 25th hero, the fourth since the game's release.
