UPDATE: Dec. 4, 2023, 6:39 p.m. EST The 'GTA 6' trailer just dropped ahead of schedule! Rockstar Games rolled it out on Monday, Dec. 4, not on Tuesday, Dec. 5 as originally announced.

The first trailer for Rockstar's genre-defining game was released 12 years ago, and since then, fans have been clamoring for the studio's next installment, Grand Theft Auto VI.

'GTA 6' release date
Don't hold your breath for aGTA 6 release in 2024. Rockstar Games just dropped the GTA 6 trailer on Dec. 4, and according to the final shot, it is due to debut in 2025.
Before November 2023, we were starved of official word about GTA 6from Rockstar Games. For example, in February 2022, all we got from the studio was an "it exists" statement.
On Nov. 8, Rockstar Games announced that it will drop the trailer for GTA 6in early December, but at the time, it didn't specify the day nor time. However, on Dec. 1, Rockstar Games finally tweeted a date for the GTA 6 trailer: Dec. 5, 2023.
However, an X user with the moniker @Gta6trailerleak dropped the leaked trailer on Monday, Dec. 4, according to The Verge's Tom Warren. As a result, Rockstar Games unleashed the 'GTA 6' trailer earlier than expected. Watch it below.
'GTA 6' leaks
Leaks have been a thorn in Rockstar Games' side for some time now, and this time, it pushed the video game publisher to drop the GTA 6 trailer earlier than anticipated.
As mentioned, @Gta6trailerleak (now suspended on X) leaked the GTA 6trailer, and was the straw that broke the camel's back — and Rockstar Games posted the following tweet:

In September of last year, we covered a massive dump of an in-development build of GTA 6that gave us plenty of juicy information. The biggest of which is that, for the first time ever, GTA will feature a playable female protagonist named Lucia.

The leak was unprecedented and massive and was scrubbed from the internet. You'd be hard-pressed to find any of the footage on Reddit or the official GTA forums, and if you ask for it you might get banned. A 17-year-old UK citizen was arrested last year in connection to the Rockstar hack, and it seems he was affiliated with the known hacker group “Laspus$.”
On X, @milksashi posted an alleged GTA 6leak that reportedly shows the scale of its map. According to Insider Gaming, this leak was originally posted by @azzarossi who has made their account private.
