The top-of-the-line Google Pixel phone -- the 5.5-inch Pixel XL with 128GB of storage memory -- won't be available at Verizon on Thursday. 。

Verizon's head of comms for wireless Jeffrey Nelson announced it in a tweet, but he pointed out that all other models are in stock.。

If you go to Verizon's online store and choose the 128GB Pixel XL, you'll get a shipping date of Nov. 18. The 32GB version ships right away. 。

Our initial recommendation was to buy a Pixel directly from Google instead of Verizon, as it appeared Verizon would be handling system updates for the phones (which usually means a lousier user experience), but the companies later backtracked, saying the Pixels bought from Verizon would be virtually the same (save for a few bloatware apps) as the one bought from Google.。

However, the Pixel XL (both variants) is out of stock on Google's own online store as well, and the 128GB variant is not available at Best Buy, either, so there's currently no way to get it at all right now.。

Touted as the first phones "made by Google," the 5-inch Pixel and the 5.5-inch Pixel XL are powerful Android phones with great specs, a host of unique features such as the Google Assistant, and a best-in-class camera (read our review here). The phones have a very similar set of specs, but the Pixel XL has a bigger battery and a Quad HD screen (vs. the Pixel's Full HD screen). 。
