Woody Harrelson is officially joining the cast of the upcoming Star Warsstandalone film centered around a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), and Mashablegot a chance to talk to the Hunger Gamesstar soon after the casting news broke on Wednesday.
Details about Harrelson's Star Warsrole are scarce, but the actor confirmed rumors that he'll be playing "a mentor to Han," telling Mashablethat his character is "also a bit of a criminal."
Much as Obi-Wan Kenobi schooled Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force, perhaps Harrelson's character will tutor the young Han Solo in the finer points of being a smuggling scoundrel.
"I don’t think I should say much more than that, because the Force is not allowing me," Harrelson chuckled.
The Star Warsfranchise is known for the distinctive aliens and droids that populate our favorite galaxy far, far away, but Harrelson told Mashable, "I don’t think I’ll have a lot of makeup or anything. We’ll see how that look develops — I’m meeting with those guys tomorrow, the hair and makeup and stunts and everything. We’ll just have a little discussion about that."
Harrelson joins a cast that also includes Donald Glover (Atlanta) as a young Lando Calrissian and Game of Thronesstar Emilia Clarke in an undisclosed role.
